CBtalk ... citizen band like before

Category:

cbtalk channelmode CH09Midland has made a big splash with the CBtalk APP. Everyone can download and use the CBtalk free of advertising and free of charge. If you own an Apple iPhone, you can also use the APP - use the CBtalk Apple Link.

And how does it work?

As you know it from CB radios. The look & feel is wonderfully implemented on the mobile phone screen. But of course this also offers a lot more and more fantastic options than the CB radios that you know from before. For example, in addition to the usual 40 channels with a range of 30 km (without DualMike) or up to 100 km (with DualMike), a so-called group mode was also implemented in which the range is worldwide. This mode has implemented 195 countries, 15 to over 40 channels per country, depending on the load (number of participants) of the country concerned.

It is therefore possible to 'radio' up to 30 km (100 km) in the 'normal' range - as with a CB radio via antenna, or to visit other countries in group mode and, for example, with radio friends in the USA, England or other countries spark. Why is? and why do we primarily focus on channel mode (channel mode = CH first switch left up)

It is about tracking down the CB radio feeling, using the advantages of getting to know people from the area in which we live. Anyone who uses CBtalk would like to talk and talk to people, and friendships that often last for years. Also, many who use CBtalk have met radio friends again, whom they haven't heard from in years.

The thing with channel 9

jackson ii ch9Since the mid-1970s, CB radio in Europe was gradually allowed by all countries, at that time with lower transmission power and primarily AM mode. Even then, channel 9 (if alternative channel 19 was disturbed) was used as a call and emergency channel, and not without reason. If you look at (see picture) two-way radios, they mostly have a switch that allows the quick change to channel 9.

alan 42ds ch9Back then, it really made sense, because every second car had an antenna, there were no cell phones yet, and in an emergency, the nearest phone booth was often miles away on a highway or country road. With the introduction of the first C and D networks, later GSM car phones, this changed step by step.

Nevertheless, channel 9 on CB radio still has a special position, even if nobody would come up with the idea of calling an emergency doctor via CB radio - which is also logical and a good thing. But its authorization at that time as a call - info - trucker and help channel is undoubtedly still valuable and helps many on the streets.

But what rules apply to CB radio and channel 9 ?

Rules have to be

In any case, pay attention to the so-called Terms & Conditions! This is important. It is the rules set up by Midland Europe for using CBtalk. The rules are also monitored by administrators who intervene if these rules are violated. If, for example, a radio operator is insulted, threatened or insulted, or a radio operator is overwhelmed with offensive offers, an administrator on channel 9 (= call and help channel) can be asked for help (if not present on the channel anyway). If users (see first paragraph of the rules) behave repeatedly and repeatedly, this should be reported directly to an aThis email address is being protected from spambots.
